Dear Friends/ Mes Chers Amis,
Le Maitre D' was born out of a dream five and half years ago. It was built out of passion, dedication and a lot of hard work, very long hours, personal and family sacrifice. Through amazing food, great local wines, music and art, Le Maitre D' was our way of sharing both our French and Metis cultures.
Le Maitre D' became the place friends and families gathered to celebrate small and big occasions. We welcomed you into our establishment, and you in turn welcomed us into your lives. You trusted us with hiding an engagement ring for the big question, you told us first about a pregnancy, and new home purchases. You shared your travel adventures, cottage searches and job searches. You trusted us with your wedding receptions and final celebrations of life. You shared your graduations and told us of your divorce. Your friendship went beyond our walls. You invited us into your homes for dinner, to watch fireworks, and joined us cycling. We fundraised together.....we could go on and on.
Our current head chef, who walked through our door two years ago at the exact moment we needed him to, last month understandably took a position he could not turn down. His departure has provided the time we needed to reassess this path, and make some needed repairs to the kitchen. With much soul searching, we sadly and somewhat excitedly have decided, as of Wednesday, April 25th, to turn the lights off Le Maitre D'.
We know there will be disappointment, and we truly apologize for that. Some of you have "just discovered us and can't wait to come back", while others of you have been dining with us for years, some of you supported us weekly. We feel a sense of responsibility to having provided you with someplace you really enjoyed, and now taking it away. We deeply want to thank-you for your support and loyalty, for your advice along the way, for sharing with friends about how great your experience was, for your positive reviews on Tripadvisor and Opentable, for talking about us 'in town'. We would not have survived without you! We want you to know that it has been a privilege and real joy to have served you. We have learned and grown a lot through this experience.
This however may not be good-bye..... we'll keep you posted. For now, be well. A la prochaine.
Dave and Nicole Brunelle
